Navigating the various social services in Michigan can be challenging. As Manar Immigration & Social Services, we can assist our clients with applications for the following programs, most of which are administered through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) via the MI Bridges portal.

Food & Nutrition

• Food Assistance Program (FAP): This program, also known as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), provides a monthly benefit on an EBT (Bridge) card to help low-income individuals and families buy groceries.

• Women, Infants, and Children (WIC): WIC provides supplemental nutrition, health screenings, and other resources for pregnant women, new mothers, and children up to age five.

Cash Assistance

• Family Independence Program (FIP): This is Michigan's version of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). It provides monthly cash assistance and employment services to families with children to help them become self-sufficient.

• State Disability Assistance (SDA): This program offers monthly cash assistance to adults with disabilities who are unable to work and meet specific income and asset limits.

• Refugee Assistance: Programs are available to help refugees with initial resettlement costs and to provide temporary cash assistance.

Health Care

• Medicaid: This is a joint federal and state program that provides health care coverage to low-income individuals and families, including children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.

• Healthy Michigan Plan: As part of Medicaid expansion, this plan offers affordable health coverage to Michigan residents aged 19–64 who have an income at or below 133% of the federal poverty level.

• Children's Special Health Care Services (CSHCS): This program helps children and adults up to age 26 with certain chronic health conditions get the necessary medical care.

Emergency & Housing

• State Emergency Relief (SER): SER provides assistance with urgent needs like home repairs, utility bills (heat and electricity), and burial costs.

• Housing and Homeless Services: We can assist clients in connecting with resources that provide rental assistance, help to prevent eviction, and emergency housing for those experiencing homelessness.

• Energy and Weatherization Assistance: We can help clients apply for programs, such as the Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP), that provide help with paying utility bills and home weatherization services.

Other Services

• Child Care Assistance: This program helps low-income families pay for child care so parents can work or attend school.

• Migrant Services: We can connect migrant and seasonal farmworkers with various support services they may need.

• Social Security Benefits: We can guide clients through the application process for federal programs such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for people who are aged, blind, or disabled with limited income and resources, and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) for those who have worked and paid Social Security taxes.
